Many people think that the exposure of asbestos and lungs only are connected but they are not aware form that ingestion of asbestos is also linked to the kidney and renal cancer as well. According to the Cancer Society about 12,980 of the American public dies each year due to the renal cancer. However, one can to get protected from every cause of this disease but at least one can avoid asbestos to lessen the risk.
Risk factors: In addition to asbestos there some other risk factors also which cause this disease such as hazards at the working areas may include cadmium, benzene, trichloroethylene and herbicides. Smoking, being obese can also cause kidney cancer. In fact the graph of this disease has been rise since 1970. This can be derived from this that the people who had exposure to asbestos suffered from kidney cancer after the asbestos was banned.
Reasons: The main problem was that it was such popular substance before many doctors realized its fiber’s dangers. Even the ancient Roman and the Greek culture used asbestos but it was not used in such a high volume until the revolution of industry. And this was the time when people started to feel the need to insulate the materials for engines or piping in place in the building and ship. And people started using it because it has marvelous insulating capabilities. Asbestos is the member of silicate mineral family. It was also useful due to its tensile strength and the flexibility
Usage of Asbestos: These qualities made asbestos as an essential part of automotive, constructions, shipping and many other industries. Only in the construction, the asbestos can be found in insulation, the vinyl flooring, the counter tops, the roofing taar and the roofing tiles. Ships were being built of insulations of asbestos. And the automotive industry used this for the brake pads, the brake shoes, clutch pads and the gasket.
Development of kidney cancer: It can develop renal cancer due to inability of the body to process the fibers. And when its particles releases in to the air then one can inhale or ingest fibers. And when they get in to the body, they can be lodged in to the organs or start cycling around the bloodstream until the body could not break it down. And if they are in blood then they are caught in filtering area of kidney. From here they mainly cause the problem by getting stuck in to the kidney and forms tumor.
It is very dangerous due to its closeness to the bloodstream of human body and if tumor in kidney is malignant then it can also flow towards other body parts as well
