The popularity of whey protein shakes skyrocketed, recently. This substance had become popular for people who are body builders or health fanatics to build more muscle. However, the principal concern that arises is whether whey protein shakes are actually healthy when it is consumed every day.
Many people are of the opinion that high protein diets won’t cause any problems. However, it can be possible that in the future it can be established, that it can cause harm in the long term. The kidneys and liver are the organs responsible for the elimination of protein waste products. These organs can possibly experience more stress compared to someone whose consumption of protein is low.
However, there is no proof that the person consuming a low protein diet may have healthier organs (kidneys & liver) in the years to come. There is also no proof that the individual who consume a large amount of protein, will suffer from damaged organs.
A lot of different factors play a role when it comes to the health of these two important organs. Furthermore, it appears that the majority of people consuming a high protein diet are very healthy. It seems that a high intake of protein mostly has an effect on people who have an existing underlying condition. A logical assumption is that an overload of protein on a daily basis has the potential to cause damage to your health.
Consuming a single shake can easily provide an excess of protein without the person noticing it. So drinking a few scoops of whey protein daily, can result in an overload of protein which is indigestible for your body.
It is advisable to take care that the amount of shakes you consume, don’t contain too much protein. However, it is easier to observe the amount of protein you are eating for instance in a large steak. Compare this to a serving of whey protein; it may seem that the shake contains a lower amount of protein. However, it may easily contain much more protein in comparison with the steak.
It is advisable to consume 30 to 40 grams of protein in a session which won’t put strain on the digestive system. It is a better option to follow a varied diet, which will be healthier for both the kidneys and liver in comparison with overloading your body with protein coming from the same source on a daily basis!
